The system cannot find the file specified.

I have installed software for pda/phone. When I plug the
cradle into the computer, Hardware wizard starts. Final
screen states the device could not be installed because
The system cannot find the file specified. Unfortunatley,
it doesn't say which file could not be found. Could this
be OS related? PDA/phone manufacturer has been unable to
dertmine what the problem is. Thanks in advance for any
help!
 
Cheryl, try going to Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the
software. Reboot and let XP loadup.
Reboot again and install the pda software. Reboot again and then try the
phone in the cradle.

What is the exact wording in the dialog box at the end of the Hardware
Wizard?
And this may seem like a weird question, but after this failed install
attempt, does the item work? I know that may seem weird, but I have had
devices which said the hardware didn't install properly and yet the device
worked.
