The Stupid Red Green & Blue Monitor Self Test rectangle: Can I disable it ?

The Damn thing usually times out in a minute after my computer goes into
standby or hibernation, BUT NOT ALWAYS. Seems to me the F'ing thing is bound
to burn a nice dark square into the middle of my monitor after awhile - it
doesn't move across the screen - just stays in the middle. I've gotten out
of bed when the alarm went off only to find out that the God-Damn thing has
been on most of the night. I know this because my DVD2SVCD software keeps a
log of times for the phases of SVCD creation including the finish time. By
that, I know that 30 min after finishing it goes into hibernation.

Is there a setting in the BIOS that will disable that mostly useless so
called feature ? Or is there some other way ?

Check the bios for power management enabled.
Control panel / power options / for PM in windows.

start by disabling all (bios and windows) power management, if the problem
is solved then enable WINDOWS power management in a fashion that suits you.

I never suggested it was, but turning off the monitor every time when there
might be a chance I'll not be using it for more tan 30 mins is a real pain.
For me anyway - you wouldn't mind ?

Well, If the big 'Red Green & Blue monster' were that much of an issue for
me, yes, I might mind. However, I know when I'm not going to be using my
box. Maybe you have conflicting views, with yourself? Either way...if ya
wanna get worked up, about it, that's your choice.

So, your purpose in replying to these posts wasn't to help out - mainly to
try and get in some shots and tell me that I'm "getting worked up" about
something that you in your superior way wouldn't be concerned about. Well, I
hope I have helped you out with some of your "issues" sounds like you needed
to take some shots at somebody - to try and make somebody feel like crap in
some way. Well perhaps I've been able to help you out. I hope so.

My solution was simple. You didn't like it. Big whoop. Just because you
seem to have been offended, now, is not going to change what/where I choose
to post.
