Hi all

does anyone know when the Spanish language version of Vista will be
released?

another question

who ever is using Beta 2.0, are all 4 languages for the voice recognition
installed and working. in other words if you installed the English version
and wanted to dictate a document in German does the voice recognition
recognize German.

I just get the feeling Microsoft is not going to give us that flexibility.

Sean

Hello! The Spanish version of Vista will not be available until it is
released to the world. However, alot of people use the MUI packs, but
still, no word yet when those MUI packs will be available. Sorry that I
can't proved a better answer, you're waiting as well as I. :(

Hey Dena, hey Sean :o)

Generally the MUI language packs are available about a month or two after
the initial RTM - so in theory it should be around February/March 2007 if
we're lucky - but if we're really lucky, they'll release them just before
RTM :o)

It's available to everyone as a download - they did it with R2 after that
was released.

How can I acquire Windows MUI?
The Windows XP/2000 MUI is sold only through Volume Licensing programs such
as the Microsoft Open License Program (MOLP / Open), Select, and Enterprise
agreement (or with a new computer as an OEM version at customer request). It
is not available through retail channels.

Wherever you get your info from, its surely not from research.

So i want to understand something here.

The international business language is English right, And most businesses
require that thier staff speak english.
So if I work for an international company and I am working in Spain with a
Spanish Operating system, and I would like to dictate a word document to my
collegues in the USA in English I cant!

Is that right?

Saying that, I am working in the USA and most of our business partners are
from Mexico and they prefer us to comunicate with them in Spanish and if my
Operating System is English I cant dictate a MS Word document in Spanish?

Is that right?

If your Company spans the Globe and has multi-lingual employee's then, they
would have the resources to invest in the Windows Multilingual User
Interface. MUI is not something for the home users, although you have home
use rights for XP Pro under VLK.

This allows large corporations to roll out the same worldwide image with a
single install job. Local users can then select the user interface language
or it can be set by Group Policy for Organizational Units.
MUI also allows different language users to share the same workstation or
roaming users to take their localized user interface from one workstation to
another. For instance, one user might choose to see system menus, dialogs
and other text in Japanese, while another user logging onto the same system
might prefer to see the corresponding text in French.

So, you have the option of changing the language to English at anytime you
want, also I believe it has translation tools, so if you send a spanish
document to the US partners, they will recieve it in English.

I am sorry I thought this was Windows Vista newsgroup.
not sure why everyone keeps sending details of Windows 2003, Windows XP and
Windows 2000 MUI.

I know what MUI is and does.

What it is NOT in Windows 2003, Windows XP and Windows 2000 is Speech
recognition!!!!! IT IS ONLY MENUS.

I am asking about Speech recognition, not changing the menus! You know,
speak into the microphone and the computer responds.

Speech, Speech, Speech and only Speech.

sorry about the confusion between "voice recognition" and "speech
recognition".

It can be a bit confusing sometimes.

Your complete message was:

another question

The answers given were to your first question not your second question. As
towards your second question on voice/speech recognition it would more than
likely be dealt with using a translation program not a recognition program
but that's not an area that I deal with and someone else may have that
answer.
