The Sims 2-can't delete desktop shortcut

Hello! I installed "The Sims 2" on my computer but uninstalled it the next
day as I have Windows Vista and it wasn't really compatible, but the desktop
shortcut is still there. I have tried right-clicking to delete it but a
message appears saying that it cannot find the file (obviously because I have
uninstalled the program) and asks me to verify the location before I can
delete it.

I did uninstall the program correctly through the option in "Control Panel"
and I did not see any option to uninstall it manually so I'm really stuck!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

try refreshing your desktop, it might be deleted, but still there

you can either click on you background and hit F5 or right click on you
background and hit refresh.

might be a simple fix. otherwise you can always delete the file in DOS,
then refresh you background again.

It worked-thanks so much!
