I had created two zip files from my personal data with
winzip file. But now while opening the file thru winzip it
gives an error message like this:
"Winzip cannot open data1.cab because it is not in the
standard microsoft
cab format as defined in mid-1998. The "signature bytes"
required by the
microsoft cab specification are missing."

Pls suggest

Operating System is : Windows 2000 Pro.

Some of the .cab files created by Microsoft are modified in such a way
that WinZip doesn't recognize them. However, WinZip itself doesn't create
..cab files. If you created the file yourself, it's going to be a .zip
file. If it has some other extension, change the extension to .zip and
try opening it again. When you create a file with WinZip, either omit the
extension (it will be supplied automatically) or make sure that it's .zip.

Data1.cab sounds like a Microsoft distribution file and not something you
would have created.
