Both my NICs are affected as well, when I try ipconfig from the prompt i get
no info. and when doing a properties on each of the network adapters I get
bombed out.

I've looked into the Event log 115 for Source: W3SVC & SMTPSVC and found
this MS page:

Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 281760
XCON: How to Disable Internet Information Services Socket Pooling on the
SMTP Service -
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=http://support.microsoft.com:
80/support/kb/articles/Q281/7/60.ASP&NoWebContent=1

I tried the solution but this did not work for me.

Still no internet connection and still get the event error 115.

Any clues?

How many nics in the server? Did you check the bindingorder and made sure
the internal nic is on top?
How does the ipconfig/all look like?

Marina

Hi Marina,

I've checked the binding section in 'Network and Dial-UpConnections'
Advance/Advance Settings...no network adapaters are showing..there should be
2 of them. A Interl Pro 10/100 NIC for the Internet and a Gigabit NIC for
Internal.
The only thing showing in the Adapters and Bindings is the [Remote Access
connections]

Here's what IPCONFIG /ALL shows:

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>ipconfig /all

Windows 2000 IP Configuration

Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : server-2
Primary DNS Suffix . . . . . . . : somedomain.co.uk
Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Broadcast
IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No
WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No

This doesn't look good. You should see the adapters. Don't you see anything
in network connections? Have a look at 329050 troubleshooting missing
network and dial-up connections and/or 254631 some network and dial-up
connections icons may be missing.
The ipconfig doesn't look good either.

More info I can provide is that this problem arose after I unstalled DHCP as

I think I'll try to re-install the NICs drivers again and c what happens.

It stands along side an SBS2000 server that does serve a LAN and I hook both

Just to update everyone, I decided to uninstall both network adapters and
re-installed them and this has cured my problems of the adapters now
appearing again in the Adapters and Bindings tab for Advance Network
options.

Got net connectivity, will now test exchange and hopefully collect the 2days
worth of mail the server hasn't pircked up fromt he backup smtp server.

Thx again Marina for listening out.

Much appreciated.

Marina,

I was away last few days, so apologies for the late reply.

Yes the SBS 2000 server has Exchange running on it to serve the client
machines.

While the other server runing win2k/exch2k is stand alone.

network.
It stands along side an SBS2000 server that does serve a LAN and I hook both
servers together for backup reasons only, thats all.

Yea,

Its a mystery really, why the network adapters no longer show event
thought
the NIC Icons show in the Network and dial-up window.

Thx for ur support...I just hope some1 else here is able to tell me what
else I can do.

More info I can provide is that this problem arose after I unstalled DHCP
as
this is a stand alone server.

I think I'll try to re-install the NICs drivers again and c what happens.

This doesn't look good. You should see the adapters. Don't you see
anything
in network connections? Have a look at 329050 troubleshooting missing
network and dial-up connections and/or 254631 some network and dial-up
connections icons may be missing.
The ipconfig doesn't look good either.

Hi Marina,

I've checked the binding section in 'Network and Dial-UpConnections'
Advance/Advance Settings...no network adapaters are showing..there
should
be
2 of them. A Interl Pro 10/100 NIC for the Internet and a
Gigabit
NIC
for
Internal.
The only thing showing in the Adapters and Bindings is the [Remote
Access
connections]

Here's what IPCONFIG /ALL shows:

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>ipconfig /all

Windows 2000 IP Configuration

Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : server-2
Primary DNS Suffix . . . . . . . : somedomain.co.uk
Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Broadcast
IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No
WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No

How many nics in the server? Did you check the bindingorder
and
made
sure
the internal nic is on top?
How does the ipconfig/all look like?
