Thank Kevin for your response.
I'm confused about the single label domain name. I read the articule 300684 and I understand that the DNS names that do not include a period ("dot", ".") are said to be single-label. My domains have (.local), so think that my domais name are ok.
My FQDN of the domains are:
server1.FIRSTDC.local ----> This the principal domain.
server2.SECONDDC.local ----> This the second domain.
When I do Ping server1.FIRSTDC.local is OK, the server response. But when I do Ping server2.SECONDDC.local is WRONG said "Unknown host". I don't know what happen ?
I no problem with my principal server, because everyone can see, include the second server. My problem is with the second server. I would like to known if my domain setup or design is ok, let me explain. I need to know if I have a 2 Domains in 1 Forest or I have 2 Forests with 2 Domains.
My gold is setup a redundant evironment so when a server1 is down the server2 could replace and viceversa. In my server2 I going to install the Exchange 2000 server.
My questions: What is the best way to setup my second server ?
1.- New Domain or Adding to exist domain or
2.- New Domain in New Tree or Adding New Domain in a exist Tree or
3.- New Domain in New Tree in exist Forest.
I setup the second server like a 3. option this way is Ok ?
Thaks for all any idea is appreciate.

If "local" is the actual domain name in ADU&C (single label domain name)
this in itself will be a problem for any machine that is Win2kSP4, Win2k3 or
XP Pro.
Make sure all domain members use the internal DNS server ONLY in TCP/IP
properties no ISP's DNS in any NIC on any machine.
