I have bought and installed XP Professional after upgrading from XP Home
Edition. After this, things have started going wrong.

First, Internet Explorer 6. (I had IE7 before, when I had HE) Every time I
try to open a page using the Address Bar, open Microsoft Update etc I get the
following error message:

"The requested lookup key was not found in any active activation context."

With this, I'm not able to update my computer to IE7 to even try to resolve
this issue.

What should I do?

Did you uninstall IE7 before upgrading to WinXP Pro?

No, I haven't. I have left IE7 where it was, upgraded, and voila > IE6, and
lots of problems.

I'm sure the problem is doing the upgrade while IE7 was installed and you
now have mixed versions. The only way I can think of to fix it is a format
and reinstall. I hope someone else can come up with something better.

I appreciate you feedback and support, Mr. Saunders, but my problem has been
solved after a phone call to my local Microsoft Support Centre :) . In order
to have done that, some of my actions included uninstalling IE7 prior to
receiving some advice to modify several of the program's values. Then I
activated my new Windows XP Pro, updated it using IE6, and all my problems
were relinquished.
