The page cannot be displayed

hello
I or some reason cannot connect when i use IE.I have tried many new settings
and redected my internet connections but i still cannot get IE too work.It
was working fine about 3-4 weeks ago but for some reason it just will not
work.
I am using xp pro and sp1.
I have tried setting all my IE settings too defualt and still no joy.
Can someone help wit this andif not can you tell me is there w way to
reinstall IE without the xp disk since the xp disk i have is not working
(kids destroyed it).i have an sp2 disk which microsoft have sent me.would it
make any difference if i installed that.
I have the disk since im on dial up and for some reason the download from
the site wouldn work when i first tried it so ordered one.

Reinstalling SP2 will reinstall IE, but that probably won't fix it.

First eliminate any spyware.

In WinXP SP2: You can fix Winsock by going to Start | Run and typing
