To resolve the issue u have to delete all the host
files, inculding lmhost file, if you are unable to delete
file in that case you have to close all internet explporer
browser also you have to delete temporary internet files
and cookies

Here are the steps to delete host files:

1) From the Start menu on your computer, click Search. (In
some versions of Windows®, you must click Find.)

2) Select All files and folders. (Some versions of Windows
list this option as Files or Folders.)

3) Type "hosts" (without quotation marks) in the file name
box and click Search. (Some versions of Windows list this
as Find Now.)

4) Once you locate the "hosts" file within your Windows or
WINNT directory, right click the file and click Delete.

Here are the steps to delete temporary internet files and
cookies:

1) Click on Start-Settings and then Control Panel. Then
double click on Internet Options. Then click on General
Tab. Click on Setting.

If Win XP, then 1) Click on Start and then Control Panel.
Then double click on Internet Options. Then click on
General Tab. Click on Setting.

2) Click on View files Click on Edit/Select All. Click
Delete on the keyboard. Click Yes to delete the cookies.

3) Click Delete Files. Now Click on the X button which
will be on the top right hand of the screen in order to
close the Temporary Internet Files.

4) Click on OK. Click on Clear History. Click on Yes when
prompted in order to clear the history. Click on OK.

This is all you need to do .

I have an extensive Host file to which I have added a lot of
entries -- it kills ads I don't want to see on web pages. I
manage it with a program called Hostess. But now and then
a page will not be displayed and I have to disable the Host
file -- Hostess will rename the file with one click. After I have
accessed the site that would not display, then I enable it
again.

I discovered this recently by reading this group. I had asked
a question on why I could never access the site www.msnbc.com
No one answered the question but by reading other posts I
realized somehow my host file might be the problem. And it
was. When I disable Hosts the site displays just fine.
