The packet was rejected on the DNS event log

Hi Everyone

I am continously receive this error on the DNS Event log.
on our Domain Controller our DNS is installed on
192.168.1.33, how come it rejecting it self ???

"The DNS server encountered an invalid DNS update message
from 192.168.1.33. The packet was rejected"

I can not find any answer on the Microsoft help site

Can you post the EventID # please?
Can you also post an ipconfig /all from this machine.

Thanks for posting that information. Seems the top part of it got truncated
for some reason. I wanted to examine that too to advise if you have anything
else amiss...

As for the specific 5509, Danny took care of that for you. It's usually an
underscore or a space in the hostname that's causing it, since they are
illegal DNS characters.

Yep. Certain characters are not supported by DNS and will cause problems
with AD since AD is DNS based.

No, that's not what I said. How did you inference that with my posts?

DHCP and DNS and WINS CAN be on the same machine. The whole point of the
error that you are getting is based on the computer name of one of your
clients that has an illegal character in the hostname, such as an underscore
or a space. Those characters are illegal DNS characters. Period.

I never said anything about DNS and DHCP not co-existing on the same
machine.
