The only thing I miss about WindowsME

I recently upgraded my OS to Win2k...now the only thing that I miss from
WindowsME is the slideshow function in Explorer when viewing picture
folders. Does anyone have any ideas how to regain this functionality? I'm
not interested in a separate slideshow type program.

Hope this makes sense.
Thanks.

Irfanview. Enable the context menu item.

And by the way, ME does this by using a separate program by Kodak.

Just steal the Windows "My Pictures" screen saver from ME.

Then you should be asking in a microsoft.* group. This group is about
freeware, don'tcha know...

I was interested in a shell extension/context menu add-in...I think this
qualifies as a freeware request. It was answered by John Corliss with a
freeware suggestion.

Then you came along.

Believe me, WinME to Win2k is no downgrade. Yes, it was totally
straightforward - everything that I previously had working under ME works
with 2k and now I don't have to re-boot my laptop every 6 hours.

I don't have an OEM ME Disk, my laptop came with ME pre-loaded and a simple
rescue disk to restore it to its factory settings. I wouldn't know how to
steal the screen-saver from it or even if it exists on the rescue disk, so
I'll be going down the IrfanView route suggested in another thread.
Thanks anyway, though...I'm sure your suggestion will be of help to someone.

Yes, it does.

But you said, "I'm not interested in a separate slideshow type program."

So, you *did* want a freeware solution -- and an 817KB solution[1], no
less?
Then you came along.

.... and provided you with a redirect to a more appropriate group, in an
effort to help *you* solve *your* problem.

[1] Irfanview was precisely the solution I had in mind, until you
said... well, we know what you said. Not that it matters, apparently.

All of your comments are fair... I'm afraid that somewhere in the decision
making process /I changed my mind/ and I apologise if this provoked you. I
didn't realise that IrfanView had this functionality.

Thank you.

I wasn't provoked by the fact that you changed your mind -- that would
be ludicrous. Free will. It is your parting shot, preserved above,
that rubbed me the wrong way.

Anyway, it doesn't matter -- water under the bridge. I'm happy you
solved your problem.

Have a nice day. }:O)
