I receive this error when I try to join my local domain or when I try to
connect to any other machine on the network. This machine is running 2K
server SP4 with all the latest updates. I have checked and my TCP/IP
netbios helper service is running. Any ideas? Thanks.

I'm not sure what error you are referring to but if you are trying to join a
Windows 2000/2003 network then it is IP and DNS that needs to be setup
properly on your client.

Check you dns and make sure it is pointing to a dns server that has the
service records for the dc in this domain.

Ok, you still haven't provided any errors to help you with.

From this machine can you ping the domainname.com (Change the domain name to
your domain name).

can you do an nslookup on the daminname.com?

I can ping the domain name and when I perform an nslookup I get the IPs for
the PDC and BDC although in addition to the DCs public IPs it also lists
some private ones.. When I attempt to join the domain I get the error: "The
following error occurred attempting to join the domain (domain name goes
here) The network location cannot be reached. For information about
network troubleshooting, see windows help." I get the exact same error if I
attempt to connect to any other server on the network using the \\servername
or \\ipaddress.
