is the motion desktop just video? Or is it something more complex?

Because I have seen desktop programs that can have video with XP...

Thanks

cant be "just video" because they claim no performance hit while running. so
its certainly some different format that standard video

Where do "they" (who is "they") claim "no performance hit while running"? I
guess "performance hit" can be a relative term.

they said it support WMV & MPEG.

The no performance hit was claimed because of dwm, the video card does all
the work so no hit on cpu.

You could take a cynical view and says, as most off the new features of
vista are 0 performance hit as they use the GPU not the CPU?

Will they not all hit each other :D

Eg, will motion desktop slow down your DWM UI? on low end GPU's I am sure it
will.

When most of the UI goes WPF then things like motion desktop could realy
start to hit things, I think the new Yahoo messenger uses WPF.

Also, all this new no hit to CPU hits the GPU your lappy will consume more
power and your desktop will cosume more power. I wonder what the green view
is?

Dont get me wrong, I do like vista and I even like glass and the other UX
peaces, but some questions to need to be raised.

In the case of motion desktop, though, I would agree that the Vista
rendering model would support the assertion that desktop motion has little
or no impact on the performance of other programs the way it would if
rendering were still being done by the cpu.
