When I attempt to save contact information, in outlook 2002, I get this error
message. I have uninstalled and installed office and I still get the error.
I thought it was odd that my emails were still there when I installed office
again. Shouldn't I lose everything from outlook? How can I save my contacts?

There are several messages here about "messaging interface has returned an
unknown error" when trying to delete contacts. I have the same issue.

As best I can figure, several of my "problem" contacts must have been
created when I had an earlier version of Outlook. When I go in to try to
edit or delete them, I can't. I haven't found a solution on Microsoft's site
or anywhere in this discussion. The only possibility I can see is going
through my 1000+ contacts, moving the ones that work into a new folder,
exporting them to a new *.pst file, trying to delete the current pst file,
and then importing them all again.

Russ, it seems you're the only MVP who has responded to these posts. Is
this the only solution? And is this the cause of the problem?

There are countless causes for this error message.
Repairing the PST file with the Inbox Repair Tool and creating a new profile
is the most likely solution.
