I have a new computer with Vista Home Premium installed. My mail details were
installed on the computer by a representative of my ISP. All OK
I then transferred all fles/details from my old computer XP Home Edition
including all Outlook Express files/emails/addresses etc. Now I cannot send
emails from Windows Mail. I can receive them (occasionally) when it wants to
perform the function, and also, all the folders which were transferred, which
included about 1000 emails, whilst the folders are listed, each individual
folder will not reveal the emails held in them. BUT sometimes they do, and
they will appear of their own accord. On turning on after shutdown, they will
disappear again. My ISP technician is not familiar with Vista and has
recommended that I chat to a newsgroup to seek help. This is very frustrating
Any help would be appreciated

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection. Beside that,
McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and need to be
uninstalled.

I think that uninstalling McAfee has been helpful. I can now send messages (
I think. At least it goes through the process of sending, but now cannot
confirm if I have sent it as I cannot find a "sent Items" folder, nor a
"deleted" or a "draft" or and "Outbox" Where have they gone?
Also, why are people having so much trouble with ths VISTA?

Try removing your mail account, then close and reopen WinMail and then add
it back again.

Also in Sent Items go to View | Current View | Show all messages.
