The memory keeps jumping

Im on windows xp and i dont have much document or stuff like that keept on my comp and i have always had a memory free space of 72/74% but recantly a friend put windows me onto my computer ( proffesionly) and told me to try it after 2 weeks i had xp back and ever since i have had no end of problems the memory keeps jumping from 72% down to 48% or lower for no reason the computer is very slow ( comperd to what im use to from windows xp) and now the online help does not reconize my IP address i do defrags reguler but that dont help i do restore but no help there ive even re installed with my crash disk (proveded with comp )

so if anyone could HELP me i would be very greatfull i have run out off posibilties for these problems

Did you do an upgrade install overtop of WinME? If so,
that's probably the bane of your existence... Don't
listen to anyone who tells you to use WinME... It's pure
crap. My suggestion, back up everything you want to keep
and do a clean install. Search the Microsoft Website and
you'll find the info that you need to do so.

Your freind is obviously not as professional as either you or he sees
himself.. go back to where you purchased the computer for help with this,
and do not ley your friend back onto it..
