Lately I get this message about twice/week when I bring up
Outlook:

"The location messages are delivered has changed for this
user profile. To complete this operation, you may need to
copy the contents of the old Outlook folders to the new
Outlook folders. For information about how to change your
mail delivery, see Microsoft Outlook Help.
Some of the shortcuts on the Outlook Bar may no longer
work. Do you want Outlook to recreate your shortcuts?
All shortcuts you have created will be removed."

Then when I try to hotsync with my Palm all hell breaks
loose. The easiest fix it to keep a back up of my .pst
and put that in the right location, then import any new
contacts, etc. into the old .pst.

Anyone else seeing that? How do I fix it? It's getting
old fast.

You'll need to identify what is disconnecting Outlook from its default
information store. You haven't provided us enough of a clue to tell.

I don't know what you mean when you say "disconnecting
Outlook from its default information store." I'm not
doing a thing, not changing a thing and this happens. I'm
using hotsync and Pocket Mirror to connect to Outlook but
this happens before I try to hot sync. In fact, I don't
even leave hot sync up just to save a little memory.

How would I identify what is disconnecting Outlook from
its default information store?

There is nothing inherent in Outlook that causes this error message. It only
arises when you have changed the location of the Outlook data file,
preventing Outlook from finding it. Without more information I can't tell
what is doing that.
Think hard what changed just before "Lately..."

The only thing I know that changed lately is that I
downloaded pfbackup from Microsoft. It's the download
that adds a menu item that backs up your .pst. Is there a
flaw in that?

Quite possibly. I've never used (or trusted) it.
Why don't you just create a new profile from scratch and see it that clears
up the problem.

Right now I've got the pfbackup thing turned off. So far
so good. I was backing up to a different folder on the
hard drive than the one the .pst is in. I wonder if that
fools Outlook. I also have a second computer and every
now and then when I import contacts from the main one to
my notebook Outlook adds the other .pst location to it's
list of data file locations. It may be that Outlook just
gets confused that way.

If this keeps working, I may turn it back on but keep the
backup in the same folder with the original .pst. But
that means the client I put on that to save his .pst to
his server is going to be screwed someday.

OK, took off pfbackup, that didn't solve it. Then after I
imported some emails across my home network to my laptop,
my laptop Outlook now gives the same error. I've been
importing emails from my main computer to my laptop for
over a year. I have no idea what or why this is happening
now.

Did you do what I suggested? Create a new profile from scratch and make
certain you select the correct PST file as your default.
