the "intermittent workgroup" on XP/98 home net

I have 3 boxes -- 2 XP, 1 98 -- networked thru BBand wireless router.
Internet connection works fine. And much of the time, file/printer sharing
works...but not all the time. And this Workgroup has a bunch of lazy
workers -- often, I'll go to Network Neighborhood or its equivalent, and
it's either empty or can only find itself (the current box) in the
workgroup. Other times, all three boxes are listed in the workgroup, the
way it's supposed to. (Happens on both platforms.)

I can't find a consistent pattern as to when it works or doesn't. All three
boxes stay on close to 24x7, so its not a reboot issue. Firewalls are off,
NetBios>TCP/IP is on, Norton AV on all three, vanilla setup on the router.
Diagnostic suggestions?

Thats just windows network neighborhood. It is completely
unreliable. You can set up a "favorite" link to their
private ip address. Thats how I resolved the problem
