The importance of video card specifications?

Is there a reference somewhere that describes what certain video card
specifications mean? In other words, how do Stream Processors, Memory
Size, Memory Interface, ect relate to monitor resolution, frame rate,
and so on?

Memory size no longer applies to monitor resolution as all are over 32MB
and its used for 3D. Pretty much every graphics card will support any
resolution you're likely to come across.

There are too many factors that can affect the framerate in 3D, even
down to the manufacturer of the ram used. Framerate for 2D is pretty
much a non-issue. Basic rule of thumb that bigger numbers mean faster
should be used.
