When I've walked round farms or across fields and I've looked into a cow's eyes I swear there's more intelligence there than they let on to.

Which to me makes it all the more believable that when the cow's baby brother is led into the abbatoir he smells what's coming, not nice.

I believe we would all be surprised at the level of intelligence of animals. With two dogs and two cats, we have quite a time dealing with all of their personalities. They are very ingenious about getting what they want.
