Just in case you ever get these two environments mixed up, this should make things a little bit clearer.

You get three meals a day fully paid for

The guard locks and unlocks all the doors for you

And open all the doors for yourself

you have to share the toilet with
Some people who pee on the seat

They allow your family and friends to visit

All expenses are paid by the taxpayers with no work required

To work, and they deduct taxes from
Your salary to pay for prisoners

You must deal with sadistic wardens​

They are called managers​

btw, just to get things in perspective:

Prison: You lose your freedom.

Work:You choose to be there as you wish to earn money. You can quit anytime you like and walk wherever you like.

Simple as that really.

So what's the alternative? Shoot all our prison population dead?

All those non-fine payers; maintenance defaulters; those who smoke a little puff and those who sucessfully faught off an attack only to be prosecuted for assault. Not to mention the wrongful convictions.

Nothing is ever black and white.
