The Gimp problems

Not sure where to post this, but I'm running windows xp home, have been
using The Gimp for eons, all the sudden now it won't save my graphics
or pictures. Anyone have any ideas.

Cannot help, but I did not realise that The Gimp ran a windows
version, but the home page has a manual page.

Can anybody who's used both the Linux GIMP and the Win port comment on
if it's any good in Win?

I've used both (in producing my Xnews icons tutorial), although not to
the degree that would permit me to accurately assess this, but I've
found little difference. The LZH (?) algorithm (for producing .gif) is
installed seperately in the Win version, too.

I use Gimp with Windows and it works just fine; however, I use
only the basics and haven't even touched the tip of the
iceberg in terms of what all it's capable of doing. Attribute
that to time.. I have to work and don't have eight hours per
day to spend on the Internet. I've no comment about Linux.
Many of those programs require LARGE, FAST hard drives and are
not compatible with old slow machines.

Last time I used the Windows version was about six months ago (Win2K) I had
no problems as discussed. And did what the Linux version could do...
