There is some talk about discontinuing the developement and/the name
"FrontPage after the Office 2007 release. How true is this and if it is true,
what will be its replacement under the Microsoft name?

**Continued support for FrontPage 2003:

Currently, mainstream support will not be retired until 1-13-2009. Extended
support will not be retired until 1-14-2014.

In other words, it's already discontinued, 2003 is the last one. It's
replacement is currently in beta.

microsoft.public.expression.interactivedesigner is not a part of Expression Web Designer but rather a separate product.

Thank you all for all the helpful responses. Going in depth about this
subject, I can safely assume that the need for FrontPage Extensions, or
Extensions of similar instances will no longer be needed? So does there need
to be anything installed on the server side for it to be compatible with
Expressions WD?

"interactive designer" is microsoft's equivalent of Macromedia/Adobe Flash
or similar(??).

In terms of "extensions" the standard ASP and/or .Net will need to be
installed (Windows/IIS) to take advantage of that. Also MSSql no doubt
would be useful. Expressions will closely integrate with Visual
Studio/Visual Web Developer Express.

Expressions won't interfere with Frontpage webs (using the server
extensions). So any pages you have using the FPSE will still work.
