PS in WinExplorer, my "My Docs" is not labeled, and now it is in under
DocsSetts, rather than up by Desktop in list.

???
have run 5 antivir/spyware/trojan progs.
Still nothing, much thanks.

Mark L. Ferguson brought next idea :
Process Explorer v10.11:
http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/ProcessExplorer.html

or

UNLOCKER 1.8.5 BY CEDRICK 'NITCH' COLLOMB: http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/

===================================
thanks mark for the post............what am I supposed to unlock or
which process to quit?
Have already done both previous, all I do is quit the app that is
asking "please choose another folder", and unlock unlocks the same.

Should be a FIX for this!!??
THAT is what I need, thanks.

I've never heard of that error message and have no idea where it could be
originating from; do you? I doubt it's an XP message.

What AV/malware programs have you run?
Were they EACH updated prior to running them?
XP Pro or Home?
SP2? If not SP2 I have nothing further to offer.

You might want to look into HijackThis and post a log on a suggested site
for some assistance in analyzying it. Do NOT post the log here or on a site
that's not set up for it.

Hi Jack.

Lets make sure of a few things. First, are you logged in as
Administrator? Do others have administrator accounts as well?

WHich folders specifically is it complaining about?

BUGHUNTER! Good to see you again and thanks for answering.

Am admin on this machine, am only one that uses it.

Any of WinExp, when it pops up to "Open" or "Save As" from within the
app.

thanks!

You may have me confused with someone else. BugHunter isn't my nick. :)
Am admin on this machine, am only one that uses it.

Alright. Let's try something, just to make sure...

It sounds to me like a security permissions issue.

Goto control panel, user management, create a new administrator.

Logoff your current account, login to this new creation. Open something,
try to save a file. Are you getting the same result?

I suspect you probably will, but this is a harmless test. Please post
your results.

It's only doing this with specific folders right? Have you run a chkdsk
/f recently?

Hi thorpie,

It is real easy to restore My Documents folder on the Desktop. I proved
it. I dragged the My Documents Folder icon to the Recycle Bin. Then I
right-click an empty portion of the Desktop and clicked Properties. Clicked
Desktop and at the bottom, clicked Customize Desktop. Put a checkmark in My
Documents icon and clicked OK. Click Apply then click OK.
