the difference between Contacts and Address Book

A while ago, I imported Address Book (*.wab) from old computers into the
upgraded one.
For some reasons, the Address Book never "synchronize" with Contacts.
There must be two versions of address in my computer now (one used for
Outlook, one used for OE).

Just finished updating all my contact info under Contacts and am wondering
how can I synchronize these two sets of info. I am buying a PDA to keep
track of all contacts and hoping not to see any discrepancy again...
I read the Help file under Outlook , it says the updating of contacts
automatically updating the Address Book as well. This is not my case.

Appreciate for your input.

Outlook does not use a WAB. Only Outlook Express does.
State which of these programs you are using and the versions involved. State
more clearly what you want to do.

From my old computer, I had win XP , OE6 and Outlook 2000.
By copying the Address Book from old computer (replacing the
Administrator.wab), I have all contacts under OE6 and then I import the
address book into the Contacts under Outlook 2002.
Since then, my contacts under Outlook and Address Book seems working
independently, i,e updating one thing does not reflect on other. I was
assuming these two should be connected/related since they are both MS
products. The Help file in Outlook also states that updating contacts will
also update the Address Book which is not my case.

I need to first make these two database consistent ready for future PDA
contacts synchronizing. Second, the update I did to the Contacts has some
"Display As" titles entered in Chinese, that also seems not working under
Address Book. I tried export contact one by one by Vcard but the import in
Address Bookhas no Chinese displayed...

No. Outlook and OE have never shared the same Contact information except in
the long abandoned IMO mode of Outlook 2000. You can make a registry hack to
force OE to use your Outlook Contacts if you want.

However, once you have imported Contacts into Outlook, updating Contacts
there will indeed update the listings in the Address Book, since the Address
Book is merely a view of your Contacts Folder, where all data resides.

I have no idea how you ended up with Chinese characters. You must be leaving
out more of this story. Start looking at your Regional settings, Language
settings, Outlook version and message encoding.
