What type mpeg are you using (Level 1, 3, 4)? Of course if you are planning
to distribute presentation, it is recommended to go with an mpeg level 1, as
it is the only viable guarantee of running on diverse PCs.
If the quality issue is based on 'full screen' playback, my solution has
been to bring the mpeg into Flash MX and convert the mpeg to a .swf - I then
embed the flash file into the presentation (and they said movies could not
be embedded...). Of course then the fun is knowing how to embed a flash file
(through hand coding or third party app) and programming (or using a third
party solution) to rewind the flash file. I, and many of my clients, find
this to be a high-resolution solution to movie playback in PPT (that being
said, I have not thoroughly tested 2003's playback features but have hope
for going that route for presentations that run on my equipment).

XP - Office 2003, Powerpoint 2003, Producer 2003, Studio 8, doesn't matter
how great my mpegs work in everything else, powerpoint gags on them every
time. Sure glad I bought all the new stuff. Of course, I guess I can just
build my slide show in Studio or Producer and just give up on PP altogether.
Look at the list when you sort on mpeg. This would not appear to be a user
problem, and why should I have to dink with my registry to make your
"integrated" software work?
