The configuration file is missing

Recently downloaded an executable program from my printer
company,Canon, that refuses to install. I keep getting the
message" The configuration file is missing". I have also
noticed this same response when trying to open what I
think is an HTML file. IT has a green triangle icon not
unlike the AOL icon. Would appreciate any help you all can
give me on this problem.

What extension does the file downloaded from Canon have?
