The computer thinks....

Beginning yesterday when I booted up, I got a security alert saying that
Norton AntiVirus was turned off and the computer was at risk. I checked and
double checked in the security center and in the Norton program and
discovered that, no, Norton is not in fact turned off. The firewall is on,
the auto-protect is on, and auto-update is on. Is this a glitch? I recently
updated virus definitions and manually ran auto-update, so I'm sort of
puzzled. Virus scans didn't find any viruses, and neither Ad-Aware nor the
other Spyware Slayer found anything either. Could someone please tell me
what's going on? Thanks.

The Spyware program I have is Spybot Search and Destroy, which was
reccommended by our ISP along with Ad-Aware. I've had both for about four
months, and this is the first instance of trouble that I've had, let alone
security warnings. I'll try it anyway and see what happens. Thanks.

Duchess Red,

Take a look at this page to see why you should uninstall Spyware Slayer:

I guess I should add that once Norton comes on while the computer finishes
booting up, the little red sheild and its speech bubble disappear from the
taskbar. I just noticed that when I restarted the computer.

Is Norton on or is Security Center just claiming that it's on ? Best to
check out Symantec's support as you have not stated which version you're
using and because Norton is kind of finicky, to put it politely. ;)
