The Chipmonks have taken over

All of a sudden right out of the blue all the sounds on my
computer are at a very high pitch. Every type of file
that i play including windows defaults plays at a very
high rate of speed and sounds like Alvin and the chipmonks.
I'm running Windows 2000 professional.
Help
