What is the best chipset between ralink 3070 and realtek 8187L ?

You need to find customer reviews to decide which one to buy. The following
architectural statements don't mean much, unless real people tell you
how it works. There are lots of crappy wifi gadgets.

*******

RT3070 is 802.11n in a single chip. So the radio is done in CMOS.

RTL8187L is IEEE 802.11a/b/g, which is a generation previous to 802.11n.
Of course, when you mix 802.11n and a/b/g, you might be no further
ahead anyway. (Channel spacing might switch to 20MHz, instead of the
promised 40MHz of 802.11n.) 802.11n only makes sense if you live
on a desert island, and all devices are "n", and none of the units
can "sniff" any a/b/g in the neighborhood.

The RTL8187L uses a second chip. It could be the RTL8225 or RTL8255.

There is a picture of an RTL8187L design here. That is how
I got a second part number to work with. You can see the
second chip and microwave components are in a shielded can,
and the top of the can has been removed.

IMO, makes less difference than the antenna, but do you
really need "best", and what is "best"? It gets annoying
when people do not list the most important parameters of
their use so for all we know best might mean it matches the
color of your drapes.

If best just means highest signal strength, or distance, or
cost, or size, then we start to have something to go on.

Generaly speaking they are both meant to do the job, either
should be fine.

Scuse me.
"best" means highest signal strength and distance and connection stability

Some of these have a 3070 in them. So this isn't really a fair
evaluation of the 3070.

This one uses RTL8187L.

I'd say they're roughly the same, using the overall ratings.
A few of the 3070 ones die after a year of usage. But they
would seem about equal otherwise.
