everytime any1 in my office creates a spreadsheet they have to manualy selcet
the auto sum square and update it manualy, i was wondering if any1 has had a
similar problem and how they fixed it

Not quite sure what's happening, but autosum will only work in certain
circumstances

1) Contiguous data
2) Excel can workout which way you are looking to sum
3) There are clearly defined text headers

That sort of thing. In truth I find autosum will only work around half the
time with the many disparate way spreadsheets are built but for basic users
it can be better to click and correct than need to remember the function or
syntax. I suspect most intermediate to advanced users don't use it

i have already checked that, it is for simple calculations, like adding up a
colum or row, if we change a figure anyway where we need to the go into the
autosum field and double click then hit enter,

this is causeing a major mistake raate in my office, so i need to sort ito ut

If you do have automatic calculation mode and the SUM is not updating
when you change a value in its range then it sounds like you have a
workbook with a broken calculation chain.

Does Ctrl+Alt+F9 cause it to recalculate correctly?
How about F9?
How about Edit / Replace / = with =

Which version of Excel by the way?
