Reboot the computer tapping F8 each second.
Select Safe Mode at the menu.
Log in as Administrator.
Go to User Accounts in Control Panel and create a new account from there.
Or you can upgrade the Limited to Administrator.
But it is not recommended to use Administrator routinely.
Instead use a Limited account for routine and only use an Administrator for
tasks requiring it.

In a somewhat similar circumstance the newly updated limited user became a new administrator and deleted the prior, originally installed Windows XP-HE OS owner & administrator's user account from the cntl. pnl "User Accounts" settings. The systems properties registered name was changed to the new "owner"; however, when the Advanced tab is used and they try to delete the old administrative users name the delete button is greyed and they can't delete. I am not sure if they have SP1 or SP2 installed.
