Joe Challenge

Hello,

The challenge is on!
I am asking for someone knowledgeable and skilled enough
to put together a DB. Up until now I have not met any so
called expert to be able to do it. So .... I am wondering
by the means of challenge to see if anyone can create this
DB. Here it is:
1) Open Access and got the templates section and look for
these DB's Inventory Control and Order Entry.
The Challenge.
Can anyone make these two DB's work together and respond
the same as they do individually. e.g. make an order and
removed from the inventory and add if it is returned.
Provide the same reports as they do individually.
Thanks
Joe Challenge

Set up your tables first and when you get at least 2 tables access will ask what relationship to other when you create forms

Jerry I apologize but I do not understand what you are
talking about. However, You sound as if you are the first
to take the challenge that knows what they are doing.
Thank you

"Joe" -- "challenging" people is not a good way to get answers in a
newsgroup -- for other good suggestions on effective use of newsgroups, see
the FAQ at http://www.mvps.org/access/netiquette.htm. You see, the
experienced people who post here to help people don't feel a need to "prove"
themselves, particularly when the "challenge" deals with something like
orders and inventory that has been solved, many times over, by many
different people. They may just tend to think that the "challenger" hasn't
done enough homework, or would have found the information.

They are much more likely to provide a polite answer, or a link to a site,
if you politely ask the question instead of thinking you can embarrass them
into answering.

For example, MVP Allen Browne has a page on his site, with suggestions on
inventory control, at
http://members.iinet.net.au/~allenbrowne/AppInventory.html. Some of the
links at the FAQ site, http://www.mvps.org/access and my site
http://ntaccess.tripod.com will likely lead you, directly, or indirectly, to
more information.

Hello Mr. Joe Challenge,

Answer to challenge #1: YES, I can make the two DB's work together... bla
bla bla. And so do thousands of other people here.

I dont see your challenge #2, but from your post it might have been:
Will I do it for you?

Answer to challenge #2 would be: NAH, Not really.

On second thought, Joe, why dont YOU take the challenge. What you're asking
is basic inventory movements, it's not all that hard. People are doing much
more complex inventory application these days: multi-tier, subassemblies,
raw, work-in process, bla bla bla.

I challenge YOU to write a coherent post. Then maybe people would
understand what it is you are trying to do.

It's not particularly difficult.

I've blended two of the templates together on several occasions when the
requirements were simply enough for the templates.

I'm guessing that you could split the two databases and use one back end for
both.
Then it's just a few lines of code to handle changes in the inventory.

A proper audit trail might make it easier to start from scratch with a good
design.

Ok now that I have an answer I can get it. You see when
you ask a simple question no one seems to understand what
your asking. However, When you ask in a certain way they
answer. Now I didn't intend to offend anyone it's that
dagone thing called perception. So why wouldn't you do it
for me?
Joe

Thanks Mike you are a nice person I guess everyone else
here is upset at me for no reason. I have become well
adjusted to a few MS programs but Access is one that
really confuses me. So I asked for help. However i have
asked for this help in a few other ways and no one got the
question. This is why it was phrased this way.
Thanks I guess I have to find someone to do it for me.
Joe

Dear Mr. Linson
I did not intend to embarrass or even offend anyone in the
newsgroups. I have been a long time contributor to other
sections of the groups. Now, in retrospect I see the error
in my way of asking. I did however, ask in many other ways
and failed to get a response.Maybe I do not have enough
skills to create this DB. So where do you go to get the DB
made. This was posted before and I guess I got blown off
because I was thought to be a much lesser project than
anyone was willing to endeavor.Anyway my problem still
remains and I apologize to the group if I did offend them.
I do not want to be alienated in a group I love.
Thanks
Joe

What dont you understand? I would gladly explain it to
you. Would you help me create the DB I am looking for?
Thank you
Joe

I want them do do just that (I suppose)

Are you asking if you can "link" databases so that tables can be shared
between them?
