You know you're a hardware freak when your wife says "You have to make a
choice"....and you know how much you're going to miss her.

I am going to upgrade my MacBook Pro from Core Duo to Core 2 Duo but that is
as far as I feel any need to go. I am only doing that to get 64bit support
for both OS/X and Windows. Performance is great already.

Besides, the Mac Pro case is so distintive my wife would notice it right
away. One must be thoughtful when doing these things, you know. I have
stayed with the same case design (X-Cruiser silver) when buying my last few
desktops and my wife still hasn't picked up on what I am doing.

Oh comon' mac isn't bad. Actually mac is pretty stable. I've considered
getting a mac quite a few times. If apple had a larger game base, I would go
mac. As it stands now, very few games get ported over. Only games that are on
mac, that I'd get are: Doom 3, Splinter Cell (1, mind you), and Civilization
IV. Stuff like Prince of Persia... you won't find ported. The Prince of
Persia series is fun, so I imagine that Ubisoft, don't want to license the
rights to port....shame.

Would be nice not having to do registry hacks too :-D

Doh! Homer! ;-)

Weren't U n'The XP & .Net Server Preview (Newsgroups) Groups???

It's Me... The L1 Ranger! a.k.a The View Master!

Aloha!

OT: Don't mention cars - I've been working on my Mom's '94 S10 Blazer for a
week fixing rust spots. I'm finally getting close to being finished. And
then there's my '88 Pontiac 6000 with the 2.5L 4-cylinder engine. Ha!
Yeah, let's just say it has more than 10 mechanical problems (probably close
to 20) - none of which I will probably ever fix unless they get to the point
that I can't drive the car until its fixed, fortunately, the body is not one
of them, so no more sanding, grinding, filling, sanding (again), priming,
painting for me there. Although it has already had its fair share of work
with the drivers door as it was involved in a wreck back when my brother
used to have it. (It was not his fault - someone backed into it while the
car was parked.) Now then, back to being on-topic with computers.

Hey that's what I do with cars. On the outside it looks like a beat up
Ford but inside it's really a Ferarri:-)

Me, I'm painting my window-frames. So I thought I'd install Vista on a spare
P3/1GHz. (Well, you know what you have to do after you put the paint on... )

Clever approach Colin using the same case type. I like it.
Also nice to see someone that can present a balanced viewpoint by being a
Mac and Windows user/advocate/proponent.

It's a good thing we don't visit my sister or my cousin in Texas very often.
My wife might notice that they just happen to have one and two-year old
computers that have that very same silver X-Cruiser case I have. Remarkable
coincidence!

I just hope she hasn't picked up on the deal I have with the next door
neighbor to use his trash collection area for my cartons and packing. She
did comment once on the fact that it looked like he had gotten a new
computer.

I think living a live of celibacy and sobriety just to be able to run OS
X on an AMD quad would be well worth the sacrifice. :-)
