Yesterday, I purposely left notebook turned on and did not use it for about
15 minutes. When I went to Control Panel/Backup and Restore Center and then
clicked on Restore Files, it stated: There are no backups available on this
computer.
If I am not mistaken, automatic Backups/Restore Points are created when
Critical Updates are downloaded, which I did a few days ago.
Very confusing indeed.
(Must go out now.)

Hi Alice,

You are confusing System Restore points with backup points. SR points are
often created before a critical update is installed. Backup points are
generated on demand by the user. The former (SR) is a system protection
mechanism, the latter a means of backing up user data.

Backup And Restore Center - on the LEFT click REPAIR WINDOWS
USING SYSTEM RESTORE.

Then click the DOT - Choose Another Restore Point - Click NEXT

Then CHECK the BOX on bottom LEFT - SHOW RESTORE POINTS
OLDER THAN 5 DAY... you should see all your RESTORE POINTS.
