Can you enlighten us idiots upon what you base your statement ? Some
facts would be nice.

i don't know domsters'opinion
but my opinion in no-install tools is good, since dos times to now.

no crap in registry, no need to be installed, you can use it from an usb key
or a cd or external hd
and often these utilities are very smart and small (expecialli the
commandline versions)
you can put them in the path or not (and it's your choice; i.e. if you have
a tool that you consider "dangerous" you can execute it from a specified
directory)
and if you don't want this tool anymore, you simply delete it or his folder,
without worries about unregistering components, shared dlls or other ...

it's only my opinion :)

Even though some executables do create registry entries, it's much less than most
normal installs.

To me, trying a simple executable is just less of a risk than running a full
install just to see if I like a program.

agreed. esp. when it comes to freeware. sometimes the hype is not
worth the install.

Hope you continue the great work!
One could send a regular snapshot of sourceforge lists (thousands of
freeware progs), very clever.
All Tramp is creating is noise, reducing the information/noise ratio.

I wish him a nice virus.

Wishing virii on folks is pretty cold. I personally don't like
the flooding, but others seem to find it useful. Consequently, a
simple PLONK rule for the more egregious flooders works just
fine. I just hope I don't miss any non-flood posts from them.
I'm probably tripping, but wouldn't it be nice if each flooder
were to agree to put in an agreed on word ([FLOOD]?) at the
beginning of each post's subject line so I don't inadvertently
filter out non-flood posts.

But at any rate, it is now most tranquil here. ;-)

Another suggestion:

How about more talking about freeware, and less flaming... this isn't
the god darn parlement... if you wanna flame... become a politician !!!

Frankly, I think these so called flooders are of use and do contribute
in a positive way to the group... In the last couple of days I have
found in both PT's and Tramp's post a few very nifty programs... while
the complainers are all new to me... must be lurkers :-) I wish they
would stay doing so!

Have a great week end all!

Wow...someone who doesn't like the floods demonstrating good sense.

There is in fact a newsgroup which is just a firehose of updates,
mostly of sourceforged stuff. fm.announce, on the server
news.freshmeat.net.

That is, what announce-groups are for, IMHO ;) ACF had been not such a
kind of a group.

God forbid. Just might propose a flame tax on all netizens to solve
the problem. said:

Frankly, I no longer read either's postings, But others do.

I will. Think I owe you an email or three.
