Thank you Mike for taking time to reply to this
question. It would be great if you or your colleagues
could also address the numerous people here who are also
having trouble managing the automatic update of this
update. I've never had trouble with automatic updates
before this one, and it appears from the number of
questions on the board, and the lack of reference to
these problems in the FAQ that I am far from alone. (I
also made some recommendations in another post about how
automatic update could work more effectively, because it
obviously has a design flaw that has made it unmanageable
for this kind of update.)

If worst comes to worst, I'll order the CD. It's good to
know that's in the pipeline as a backup in case the
automatic update never comes through.

If I read your last post correctly, you pressed "Download" and then
nothing happened?
If that is so, that is correct and by design.
Now you wait, Microsoft is daily limiting the number of SP-2
downloads.
You could get SP-2 very soon or you can wait days.

Jupiter,

Note also that Elizabeth is connecting to the internet via a
dial-up connection, which of course will severely limit the
speed at which SP2 downloads.
