You were helping me with a Internet Connection Problem
yesterday...
You asked me to provide the details of the event
viewer...There weren't any...BUT you made me think about
a couple of other things and I also read some of your
older postings to people. Thanks to that, I was able to
solve the problem.
The problem was caused by my Firewall. I am running
McAfee's Personal Firewall Plus. I had disabled it,
while trying the ICS setup and of course rebooted the
computer.
But I never actually removed it. I tried removing it
automatically through the Windows Add/Remove utility and
that didn't make any difference. Some traces were left.
Out of desparation I finally manually uninstalled it,
edited the registry and deleted all references to it. I
also deleted the direct X downloaded files from the
downloaded programs folder. Rebooted and reinstalled the
firewall from scratch.
Everything works now.
So, Thank you for rattling my brain!
Jim
P.S. Your advice has been a great help to many folks in
the newsgroup. Please continue!!!
