Graham:

I appreciate your response to my inquiry. I had no idea
that Works Suite's version of Word was bug-prone.

After reading your e-mail, I decided to back up my
documents to a 2nd drive, & uninstall both Word 2002 and
its Works components. Then I did an install off my Office
2003 Pro CD of Word 2003. It was seamless. The Office
Pro 2003 version of Word picked right up where I'd left
off (apparently my settings and documents had been
detected when I'd installed Powerpoint, Publisher, & Excel
off the disk a few days earlier).

My only gripe about the Office 2003 CD is that the icons
displayed when the disk is put in are cryptic, and
confusion is easy for the novice like me. I wish
Microsoft would set these up a little more user-friendly
in regard to instructions and wizards.

Thanks again,

Dennis

I think you've misunderstood Graham somewhat. There's absolutely nothing
wrong with the version of Word that comes with Works Suite (any version);
it's the exact same program that you get with Office. What causes the
problem is the Microsoft Works Suite Add-in for Word. But at this point you
should be free of that, too.

It is not Word that is bug prone, but the Works add-in for it.
I am away from my office at the moment and don't have the Office install
disc with me so I cannot readily check what you mean about the icons.
