Hello,

When I try to update my Explorer 6 I get the following
message:

"Thank you for your interest in Windows Update

Windows Update is the online extension of Windows that
helps you get the most out of your computer.

You must be running a Microsoft Windows operating system
in order to use Windows Update.
"

I have read that it is due to my firewall since I am
running the latest version of IE. Though, I do not
know WHAT in my firewall/proxy could be preventing the
update to work. It is one of the many oscure and
frustrating problema I have found at Microsoft, since
there is no useful help in the Knowledge Database.

An easy solution would be: Open Port X on the firewall,
but so far I am stuck with these endless patching
problems.

Regards,

Enrique

I dont know if this is any good to you, but I think I got
the same problem when I disabled active x controls.
Go into , tools/internet options and go into the custom
security settings.
You can enable active x from there.

Hi Enrique,

Try this (for Windows XP/2000)

1.Click Start, Run, Regedit.exe
2.Goto this location:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet
Settings\User Agent\Post Platform
Please delete the above registry key. Be sure to export this key to a safe
location first.
