I have Vista Home and would like to install Thai as an additional
language.
On Vista Home editions, you can install Language Interface Packs, which
cover approx. 80% of the user interface. The full multilingual interface
packs are only available to those who have Ultimate. With a LIP installed
you can not easily switch between languages. In order to return to your
previous one, you will have to uninstall the LIP.
At the moment a Thai LIP for Vista is not among the 61 that have been
released or are in the making. You can bookmark and revisit these pages for
updated information:
Microsoft Local Language Program:
http://www.microsoft.com/unlimitedpotential/programs/llp.mspx
Localised MS operating systems:
http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/reference/oslocversion.mspx#winVistaLIP
What are the exact steps.
Should a LIP in your language become available at a later time, download and
install it from the Local Language site. Follow the on-screen instructions,
it is a pretty straight-forward procedure.
Note that your OS must have a supported parent language, ie. the LIP can
only be installed over certain versions of Vista. For most Asian languages,
an English version of Windows will do.
