If you send 20 texts per day at 10p per go, it mounts up to £700 per year - or so I have just read. I admit to not being a texter, but for those of you who do, these cost-reducing how-to's might be of interest.

Virtually free texting

nice I reckon I send about 20 a week so that costs me about £104 but still I am so surprised that 20 texts a day at 10 P costs £700 A YEAR

shocking!!

I send all my text in an envelope via the Royal Mail, works out meg cheap.

There are a load of Pay as you Go offers now offering x amount of free texts a month as long as you top up every month.

So that's 500 texts and £10 worth of call time.

I'm with Vodafone, i pay £30 pound a month and get 750 free minutes to anyone, 50 minutes free video calling and unlimited texts. I get to carry 50% of the minutes i have left over at end of the month, but missus normally takes care of what i don't use.

Was a good deal 9 months ago. Was a 18 month contract though, but its still cheaper than £700

I'm now on a new 12month contract as from 24th lastmonth with o2

600mins anytime any network
1000txts anytime any network
Unlimited web browsing with fair use policy

£150 credit a year

for £24 a month which is covered for 6months by credit :D

Anyone beat that then?

Orange just offered me their Dolphin 35 plan for £20

I get a new phone (Nokia 6220) 700 Mins and Unlimited texts ... for £20 a month

£15 pounds off per month, not bad haggling aye ;)

I kept my phone after my last contract ran out and now just pay for Sim rental from Virgin.

450 Texts a month
450 minutes a month
£20.00 a month
One Month contract

Best deal I've ever had, tbh.

I always have minutes and texts left over every month, I'm probably paying for too much time but there ya go.

The only thing that costs me money over the twenty quid is when I have no choice but to use an 08 number

Okay I am with t-mobile and for £18 a month I get £200 worth of credit which can equate to 900 minutes cross network or 1800 texts.

Normally my 35 T tarrif costs £35 and gives one £180 of credit but I got a special deal with them.

My bill is not often more than £20 a month.
