Wouldn't it be nice if PowerPoint had a text to speech
toolbar like Excel 2002 & 2003 has? I know that you can
code Word and PowerPoint to use the text to speech feature
in Excel, but it's be nicer if it wwas already there. I'd
like to see a Speak this page or slide and a Speak entire
document or presentation. Kind of like the read aloud
feature in Adobe Acrobat 6.0

Any input? Any add-ins out there besides PowerTalk?

I was curious to see how the MS Narrator gadget included with XP would work.

Executive summary: Not

It's a bit weird in edit mode, but when you start a PPT slide show, it tells
you "PowerPoint" and the name of the show twice, then says something like
"Clined". ???

As in "declined" ... You have to wonder, because that's all it says. It
doesn't see the slide show view at all (it's a bitmap, I suppose, so there's no
big surprise there).

O well. If nothing else, I was hoping it'd be a good way to demo the use of a
screen reader to people who don't have one and don't care to install one.

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello,

As you have discovered, PowerPoint doesn't provide the functionality that
you are looking for.

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that it's important that
PowerPoint provide this kind of functionality, don't forget to send your
feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS, please) to Microsoft at:

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions)
