Hello
Any freeware that will convert/make text into a gif?

I thought irfanview would do it - but HOW?

Martin

Example:
Make a Notepad text file.
Drag the Notepad file to IV (which opens it), click File/Save As, and
save as a GIF file.

Don't forget to put this html code on your web page:
<SCRIPT language=JavaScript

</SCRIPT>

It will. But it wasn't intuitive. ;-)

1. Create/beg/borrow/or steal the text file -- make sure you use hard
line breaks at the screen width you want.

2. Crank up Irfanview and select File/Open ASCII file then click on
the text file you've created/found.stolen/whatever to open it.

3. Then select File/Save as, choose GIF from the options, and save.

4. Done!

FWIW the two problems I initially had were:

1. Opening a (Notepad) text file with implied line breaks seemed to
run the text right off the RHS of the Irfanview window. I got the
impression that if I just expanded the window to fit the *long* lines
it would look pretty silly (and it turned out the longer lines still
wouldn't fit anyway! 8-)

2. I then tried using Edit/Copy of the text in Notepad, opening
Irfanview and selecting Image/Create New... then marking out the whole
window and selecting Edit/Insert text... and pasting my original text
copy into the Irfanview text window. But this only accepted the first
part of my text -- maybe up to one of those character string limits
like 255 or whatever (I didn't bother counting :).
Thanks DanlK >That did the job

It says "freeware" but they would like you to register for US$12.
"Registered clients may use the program without online banner showing and
sign up for e-mail update service which will let you get the new version
of the software over e-mail as soon as it gets released!"

"online banner" sounds like adware.
