exit IE6 and reboot or do other things and come back and the text size would
remain the same.. however since I have upgraded to SP2 the text size no
longer remains and I have to reset it every time I exit IE6 or reboot... can
someone suggest what I can do to fix this .. thanks.

Hi Dave :-)

Try the following and see if it helps:

The font size in IE keeps changing.

or.....

Courtesy of Alan Edwards:

If IE-View-Text Size does not stick....

---solution 1
If you are using Eudora 4.2 or greater then use Tools-Options-Viewing
Mail and uncheck "Use Microsoft's viewer"
It is Eudora that is setting the IE text size and unchecking that
option will stop it.

The key that Eudora 4.x will change is this:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\International\Scripts\3]
"IEFontSize"=hex:02,00,00,00

---solution 2
In Outlook 2000 go to Tools/Options/Mail Format/Fonts/International
Fonts, and for each font change the "Font Size" entry to your desired size.

---solution 3

Ctrl key + mouse wheel- quick changes to text size.

Font size too small

Open Browser>view toolbar>text size>Larger--->medium --->smaller. (likeliest
cause and solution)
or
Display properties>settings>advanced>general tab>font size>small fonts.
or
IE Options>General tab> Fonts.(affects type, not size)

If these steps do not resolve your problem, or you need help with the above,
please post back to this thread with the details and any error messages.

Hope this helps

Jan :)

Hi Dave :-)

Give the following a go and see if it will help:

The font size in IE keeps changing.

In Windows XP:
Go to the Control Panel, Display, then Appearance.

Set the Font Size to Normal.

To change your display settings in Windows, please follow these simple
steps:

1.. Click the Start button, go to Settings on the pop-up menu, and click
the Control Panel.

2.. When the Control Panel window opens, double-click the Display icon.

3.. You will now be presented with the Display Properties window. Click on
the Settings tab (on the right). Below the image of the monitor, you will
see on the left the Color Palette. (You should change this to high color (16
bit) by selecting it from the drop-down menu. However you may need to
restart your computer to do this.) On the right, is the desktop or screen
area. Left-click and hold down on the slider button, and move it to the
right to change the setting to at least 800 x 600 pixels. (Some of our
sites, like MyMathLab, require a minimum resolution of 1024 x 768.) Now
click OK.

Windows will ask you to confirm the change, click OK.

Your screen will resize and windows will again ask you if you want to keep
these new settings, click Yes.

If you now have a black border around the window, use your monitor's
controls to adjust the window to fill your screen.

Depending on other system settings, you may need to restart your computer
for these changes to take effect.

Hope this helps

Jan :)

Hi Dave :-)

I know it's not much help, but, you can use the mouse scroll to change the
size of the font.
It requires a mouse with a wheel. Hold down the Ctrl key and scroll the
wheel one notch at a time . Scroll up to reduce the size, scroll down to
increase the size. It might be a time saver from resetting every time.

I wish I had a more permanent solution for you. Hopefully, someone else
here does and will pass it along to you.

Hope this helps

Outlook and went to Tools/Options/Mail Format/Fonts/International - then
changed the font size from Medium to Smaller ... it worked. That is
fantastic. I have been trying to fix this problem for several months now
... realizing it is cosmetic and so didn't make it a priority... thanks for
all your help...

Fonts, and for each font
change the "Font Size" entry to your desired size

It looks like Outlook is doing it.
Try the Outlook option in my post.
The post has applied for years and can apply to Outlook 2003 as well
as Outlook 2000.

Hi Alan,

No I do not use Eudora.... and Jan if you read this thank you very much
for
your help.... I have a mouse with a wheel and know about holding the CNTRL
and scroll down to the size... the funny thing is that I was able to set
the
font size until recently.. and can't figure out why... it has changed
now...
anyways thanks again for you help. Alan, I am using IE6 with MS Office
2003
and Outlook 2003... if that helps...

Can we go back to square one?
What exactly have you tried?

Do you have Eudora?
If so, did you uncheck the MS viewer?

Do you use Outlook?
If so, did you follow the advice below?

If IE-View-Text Size does not stick....

---solution 1
If you are using Eudora 4.2 or greater then use Tools-Options-Viewing
Mail and uncheck "Use Microsoft's viewer"
It is Eudora that is setting the IE text size and unchecking that
option will stop it.

The key that Eudora 4.x will change is this:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\International\Scripts\3]
"IEFontSize"=hex:02,00,00,00

---solution 2
In Outlook 2000 go to Tools/Options/Mail Format/Fonts/International
Fonts, and for each font
change the "Font Size" entry to your desired size.

Hi Jan and thanks....

I already have the display set to Normal....in the font setting... I
also
have the color set to 32 bit ... and desktop is set to 1280 X 1024 ....
all
of these settings are what I normally run under... the problem is still
there ... as far as IE6 not saving the font size at " smaller " ... it
always defaults to " medium " ... not sure what can be done now... other
than just manually change font size every time I open IE6 ...
