Dear group,

I wonder if you could help me. I am looking for a freeware program that
would allow me to paste specific text witha simple press of a hotkey,
i.e. pressing Alt-S would instantly put my favourite quote below this
text? Is there such a program?

I currently use HoeKey for my program needs, but doubt it is capable or
fufiling this function (or if it is, I need help to set it up!).

The program must be lightweight, sit out of the way when not used and
preferably have a nice GUI.

Any ideas?

For this purpose, I use the free version of Phrase Express
http://www.phraseexpress.com/
The free version allows only 10 items to be stored, and no hotkeys, but
if your needs are simple, PhraseExpress SE will paste text at the cursor
with two mouse clicks. Thus, clicking on the tray icon, and clicking on
my first entry in the popup list, will put "Good morning!" here:
Good morning!

autohotkey will do this and a lot more. no gui. none needed.

you can define abbreviations in a definition file. to send "for what it's
worth" whenever you type fwiw:

::fwiw::for what it's worth

or you can define keys. to make windows+s send "for what it's worth":

#s::send for what it's worth

The free Yankee Clipper is really a clipboard manager but it also
allows what it calls "boilerplate" or predefined text to be pasted.

There is no limit to the number of boilerplate entries you can have.
