Text Not Displaying Properly

On many websites I've noticed that some text just won't display...I know it's
there, because if I highlight the area where it should be some of the letters
will appear, but not all of them. I know it's not the website because when I
look them up at work everything is fine (IE 5.x there). This is happening in
both IE and Netscape, so I'm guessing it is a setting issue somewhere, but
I'm at a loss as to figure out where. In fact, when I logged in to post this
my passport email address wasn't even visible!

Some other examples are the addresses of those that post at
http://www.ubersite.com and the phone number of the company at
http://www.ingdirect.com

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks!!!

AFAICS that's just using the bold attribute in HTML (<b>).

Check if you have other bolded text missing. E.g. use View Source
(Alt-V,c) and do finds for that tag in the resulting Notepad window.

I had some which was almost unreadable in the banner at the top
which only became readable (and formatted entirely differently)
after I used the Accessibility dialog to disable the use of color
with text. (Alt-T,O,Alt-e,c)

and the phone number of the company at

I got redirected here.

http://home.ingdirect.com/index.html

That page was almost totally unreadable until I set Security to High level
(thus disabling its use of Shockwave Flash). The above change of
disabling use of color also helps but not as much because some of the
text is provided by graphics.

I don't think that there is a telephone number on this page,
even with the Shockwave Flash active from the cache.

I think that there is also a coding error in the first line of that page.
E.g. I think that the case used in the DOCTYPE header should
not be lower case. I would wait for them to correct their errors
or if you like, notify them about your problems.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks!!!
