Text Keeps Defaulting Back to Master Slide Format

I swear this never used to happen before we upgraded from 2000 to 2003 but
for some reason we will alter text and when we save and close when it is
reopened the text defaults back to the Master format. It happens on multiple
machines and seems to happen when the font is above 16 point, maybe because
the text comes close to filling the text box? My Autofit settings are off.
I don't know if this is a setting or what. Any help would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks, I did just read a similar previous post and wondered if that was it.
What a horrible bug, do you know if there are any plans to fix it? It
affects our firm templates quite a bit if we can only have one master. A
work around I have been using is to use a text box instead of the placeholder
but it's a pain. Between that and not being able to highlight text (I have a
macro but firm security settings prohibits firmwide use right now) I'm pretty
annoyed at the limitations of PowerPoint right about now.

Thanks again though for your quick response!

It's a bug. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827759/en-us

You can also try using the "title only" slide layout and see if that helps.

I'd be annoyed, too, if this were happening to all my files! FWIW, I've
never seen it that widespread. Usually it just affects a couple of slides
here and there. You might try re-ordering the slide masters and see if that
helps. At one time, that KB article listed that as a suggestion, but I
always figured it was probably asking for more trouble. :-) Still, if you're
seeing the issue that often anyway, it probably won't hurt.

You might also want to create a couple of masters that are closer to the
formatting you're using instead of relying on manual formatting to override
the master formatting.

I haven't heard of any planned fixes for this. (Of course, that doesn't mean
there aren't any -- just means I don't know!)
