Text in a circle

Is there a way in Power Point 97 (that I apparently can't
find) to type / have text wrapped into a perfect circle??
Does it require and addin or something?? Nothing came up
on MS KBS. My old Freelance 2.1, which I can no longer
use because it locks up my WinXPHome computer, created
text in circles without difficulty, sizing the font as you
stretched the circle larger or smaller.

Thanks, Joe [[]]

Look for something called WordArt. It does what you are asking.

Thanks for your response. I have not been able to get
more than a semi-circle with WordArt. Am I doing
something wrong?? In addition, even the semi-circle is
not "perfect" in that it is created by dragging one of the
corners with the mouse. I was hoping to find a way to do
what the 1992 vintage, Windows 3.1 version of Freelance
did without difficulty. I guess I am asking for too much.

No Joe, not asking too much.

I do not have any active copies of PowerPoint 97 here at home, but in
PowerPoint 2002 the WordArt has this feature, but it isn't very intuitive on
how to get to it.

Insert | Picture... | WordArt...
Select a text style and click OK
Enter your text
Click OK
some text and a toolbar will appear on screen
Select the 'ABC' icon to change shape
Select the circle looking thingy
Play with the picture handles

Of course you version will probably be different, but it should be there
somewhere.

Thanks. I am used to using WordArt in MSWord and it does
not have the cirle text feature. I thought the MSPP
version would be the same, but it is not. Now, if I can
only figure out how to get different font sizes and colors
in the text, I'll be all set. I suspect I will have to
use a photoeditor for the different colors; I don't think
there is a good way to get different fonts or even
different font sizes in the text. And it appears that
manually padding between the characters is the only way to
get a smaller font for the same size circle; there is not
much font formatting, like expanded text, available in
WordArt.

Thanks for your help.
